Environmental Sampling
Our multi-disciplined scientists provide routine and specialized services in support of environmental clean-up goals. Our field scientists are multi-disciplined and undergo annual proficiency skill certification in accordance with USEPA Regional ISO 17025 based standards. We prepare and implement site investigation plans for screening, removal, assessment, remediation, Brownfield studies, underground storage tank, and criminal case development investigations. ILS also maintains an EPA Regional equipment center by calibrating and repairing environmental equipment and by tracking supply inventories.
- Hazardous waste site investigation and project management (including sample management and other QA/QC responsibilities)
- Multimedia sampling (water, soil, biota, air, hazardous waste)
- RCRA waste characterization, criminal case development and investigation/evidence collection support
- Drilling and Direct Push Technology (DPT) groundwater well installation, subsoil profiling, subsoil sampling, and soil-gas sampling
- Bedload and suspended sediment studies for TMDL calculations in watersheds/tributaries
- Rapid Bio-Assessments and taxonomic services for benthic macroinvertebrates
- New technology evaluations, US EPA method development for fixed and on-site laboratories, and Quality Assurance Project Plan development

Mr. Pilcher manages federal and state analytical services contracts based out of the Athens, Georgia area. He provides government interface, technical, and financial management over laboratory support services and field-based operations. Mr. Pilcher has 20 years of experience with the Environmental Services Assistance Team (ESAT) Region 4 as a Quality Assurance Chemist, Field Chemist, Group Supervisor of Field Operations, Deputy ESAT Team Manager and currently ESAT Team Manager. Over the past several years, he has managed a staff of about 50 professional scientists and technicians, annually achieving high technical and financial performance ratings from the government. He supported a wide variety of private and commercial environmental services including permitting and compliance. Mr. Pilcher has six years experience in the start-up, operation, and management of analytical chemistry laboratories at toxic chemical storage depots for the U.S. Army. Mr. Pilcher received his B.S.in Chemistry in 1982 from North Georgia College and State University.
